  1. Depends if ADS goes the website route - if he does, yes, excellent point.
  2. I think that should be OK. Looks good by the way. Re/ power connectors - you could use some locking power connectors.
  3. Sounds good and Skype will do the trick or NetMeeting (dependant of verion of OS). Lots of free video streaming software out there too...have a search but if you already have Skype....test that and see what you think. You'll need to check how fast the venue's internet speed is too - this will obviously affect pciture/sound quality. Got someone to operate the camera or is that you? Mic's...extra one(s) needed?
  4. 'Issues' is #6 this week...I am correct so far. Don't think 'The Fear' is out for another week or 2 yet. Trying to match my other Lily Allen predicton in 2006....can't find the post...looks like it's been lost in the tundra.
  5. I predict that Lily Allen - 'The Fear' and The Saturday's - 'Issues' will be top 10 tracks, possibly both number one..
  6. Although on the subject of download file quality, it's nice to see an increasing amount of higher quality files (320kbps) that are DRM-free. Still not .wav quality though so sod it..I still use CDs..
  7. Yep - need to find out what they are after. Many say email a demo through these days but if going for an interview a CD could be the job. If so, make sure she takes 2 copies and tests them on at least 2 CD players before going...nothing worse than the CD not working! Demo may need local stories (it is a local station after all) + national..again...need to check. Which radio station by the way (if you don't mind me asking)?
  8. As soon as I saw this posted the other day, I knew someone in some kind of 'group' or 'awareness circle' would complain. I can see their point, but for $%^&* sake. Leave it alone and let us get on with something for once.
  9. It would be a CD player (Walkman-style) or a very large disc capacity player that would play wav files. However, it would never happen. Don't want one.
  10. Backup gear - my favorite topic! I have 2 of everything...in some cases 3. Had bulbs fail on lights..no problem as have spares and lots of lights so just changed the offending blub! Only major failure I had was quite a few years ago. Amp blew. Switched to my backup which at the time was a 30/40w guitar amp that sounded OK. Filled a big hall too. Crikey. Very different these days as I always run two amps or if I use 2 speakers, have the second wired in (AC power and inputs) so would just need speakers plugging in and to be switched on. I may post all my backup gear here
  11. Haven't been there for years (no need and not that local). Anyone know if it's still there? Not sure what it was called.
  12. Re/ ABBA - yes, but how many times a year can you play 'Happy New Year' tongue out icon Probably going to play it as one of the last songs of the night. Radio work is local commercial - presenting/producing. 2 mins down the road from me although that's not my main day job....that's at another station! In fact, the 31st will mark 9 years (exactly) for me in the disco trade and about 9 years of radio work too. smile icon As it is the big one - someone can pick a second song. Wooo.
  13. Grace - Not Over Yet......tune! Probably Final Countdown but we'll see. Nearly impossible to tell at this stage...have to wait until later and see what the Guests are up to.
  14. Not much to do at all with equipment - look after it well and have ongoing checks although did tighten up all my rack screws at my last gig (don't worry - was during food and I was on a balcony so no one saw me...not that it really matters). Website redesign and some content adjustment is on the way. Must get more printer carts. 3 new tyres (I think) needed for my personal car and need to do some other checks myself and clean it. BIG task - get bookings for 2009!
  15. Party in the New Forest for me, working with a band. Should be good. Radio work too on 31st and 1st. ZzzzzzzzZZZzzZzz. Song to play: ABBA - 'Happy New Year'.
  16. Small measing tape here too - and had been put in one of my spares boxes....you never know!
  17. Very good gig on Saturday - rather interesting the last few gigs with just me, ie/ no help (usually have a Roadie). Nothing until New Year's Eve now for me but have a massive amount of radio work every day until...well...not sure...December 2009?!
  18. Would anyone play 'YMCA' at such a gig?
  19. Radio work today (usual job now) and then I am attending a bih house party this evening. :-)) Christmas party in Crewkerne on Saturday (thanks Swingcats) Radio work on Sunday and the rest of the week. All filled which is excellent. Song to play.....someone else can pick it.
  20. Get your gear checked. Always have a backup or backups. Use contract. Fee was too cheap. Well done though for what you did.
  21. Thanks, Andy! That was indeed my first Devon gig - probably won't be back for a while. Next nearest one is in Somerset at the Weekend. Used to the farms, trees falling, a bit of mud here in Wiltshire..but not quite the same as down South more. Saying that, the amount of floods here at the Weekend was crazy.
