  4. If your are using Windows, just hold down the windows key and then L. This locks the computer. Also, pull the microphone jack half out of the mixer. This gives the impression that's it plugged in but if someone does try and use it when you're at the bar/toilet/outside with a young lady, they shout into it like a fa http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/censored2.gif ny, but nothing comes out. Alternatively, plug the jack into the live pin of a plug socket, http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/Protest_emoticon.gif although do remember to unplug it when you return and before yo

    80s Night

I'm doing an 80s night in a few weeks and I'm looking for suggestions for songs, the ones that are a bit out of ordinary, or that might have been forgotten over time, or just because they were sh http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/censored2.gif te, for example Lovebug Starski - Amityville (the house on the hill) Anyone remember that???

  8. I use a Ford Mondeo Hatchback. I have my own designed frame/stand which folds flat and has space between the spars to allow the speakers to sit in between them. The coffin for my lights fits between the rear doors just behind the front seats and then the amp, speaker stands, laptop flight case fit in at the back. I can also fit in a bar sized stool/seat and a 16" fan for those venues too stingy to install air-conditioning. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/188.gif

The "quality" of this song is inversally proportional to the inebriety of your audience http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/huh.gif i.e. the more pi http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/censored2.gif ed they are, the better it sounds http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/thumbup.gif
  11. Dave, you are the man. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/notworthy.gif It's been doing my head in. I knew I knew it, but just couldn't place it. the frustration is now over http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/wallbash.gif
  12. That first rule reminds of a story my wife told me about when she was in Benidorm. Man gets up on the stage to sing, holding an SM58 radio mic, the window next to the stage was one of these full size ones that opened completely. The music had just started when he jumped out the window with the mic in hand and run off, never to be seen again. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/042.gif
  13. There are a couple of options. 1 Try This 2 Connect the output from your mixer to the audio input of your computer. Various software is available but I use Nero so I'll explain how that works. Open up WaveEditor and click on the record button at the bottom of the screen. Accept the default sampling rate and then a pop up window appears. Start playing your record and then adjust the slider so the input levels are just on the green/yellow split. When you're happy with the levels, put the needle back to the start of the record and then press record button. When the song finishes,

  16. Try and make sure you send your emails in plain text and don't add any hyperlinks. Also, always request a delivery receipt AND a read receipt. If you receive a delivery receipt but not a read receipt within say 24 hours, it may indicate that the email has been diverted to the spam folder, thereby allowing to contact the customer to confirm if they've received your email.
  17. There's a big department store on the main square with a rooftop cafe, which has nice views of the city, and I found the open-topped bus tour interesting. I took the one that went past the university and harbour, which if memory serves me was the red route.
  18. Listened to Ooh Wee from the Hitch soundtrack and can't for the life of me place the sample they've used. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/wallbash.gif C'mon, someone put me out of my misery please.
  19. The main thing you have to be clear is what YOU want from your software, then find one that suits your needs. I mainly do function work, where it's generally one song after another. I use Winamp. I have two Winamp plug-ins. The first is a key controller which allows you to make your own keyboard shortcuts. Basically I have all the main functions on my F keys, but you can make them whatever. Secondly I have a piece of software that works out how and when the current song ends and starts the next song accordingly. Total Cost £0,000,000 (Ideal for Scotsmen and Yorkshiremen) http://www.

My experience was always that bass bins could handle all frequencies so didn't require a x-over whilst tweeters couldn't only handle the higher frequencies and so need a x-over to filter out the low frequncies. You should only require a x-over if you intend to run the bass bins and the other speakers from one side of the amp and you need to show the amp the correct resistance. If your bass bins are 8 ohms and your top ends are 8 ohms, you can just link them together without a x-over and it will give a resistance to the amp of 4 ohms, which should be the optimum resistance for your
