  1. I realise that I'm way in the minority over this.... BUT... If there's 1 'newcomer' that I really can't take (sound or looks) Then it's our 'new' welsh 'song'bird..... DUFFY  I think I even prefer 'Tin Tin' Duffy (If you can remember him)
  2. No, it's not all doom & gloom...... Put the 9,000 jobs up against the probable x00,000 jobs that WILL disappear and does it still look so fantastic.....? :protest:
  3. You're right, but it won't happen for SO many reasons! And unfortunately, the BEEB are so entwined in the process as one of the three (?) originating countries that it will continue with Brit support - this is also the reason that we have never had to go through the pre-selection/semi final process. Like the hosts of the Euro/World Cup, the Brits (French and one other) are automatically through! It would be scrapped if the Beeb pulled their technical (and no doubt financial) support, but look how long the last 'series' of Doctor Who lasted before anyone realised that nobody was inte
  4. Thank you....I can now sign off with a clear conscience!!!!!!!! I believe it's now your turn!
  5. Ok...hold on, lemme have a thunk (as they say) Here Goes..... Black(ish) Irishman of International Fame!!!! Singer/Songwriter Went the way of many an ace musician! I'll chuck another clue on: Started out with a trio, and ended up with a five/six piece band! I'm sorry about this guys, but I'm gonna have to log off soon...... Here we go: Him and his 'boys' were known for being 'back in town'.... Married Lesley Crowthers daughter.... Died aged 36... From a suspected o/d of drink/drugs...
  6. Macca? James Beatles, Wings etc. Mike McGear/Scaffold/Lily the Pink ?????
  7. Already do (depending on the age of the punters!), and Jilted John and others of the ilk. I always find that these tend to be the forgotten tracks next to Vacant or Londons Calling etc. and people really enjoy hearing them again (even if it takes a second or two to twig what the song is!) I like to play Billericay Dickie as often as poss as well...it's brilliant that all the old respectable farts (like me) know every single lyric!!!
  8. The only track that stands out in my memory (and I'm sure there WERE more, I'm just to old to remember) is Freebird by Lynyrd. That was the 'bonding' track for my select circle of mates!!!!! If someone shoved that on (and there were 3 DJs in the group (of 8)) then you could guarantee we'd be up on the floor! :scared:
  9. With my very own cash? Slade Alive............. (Don't remember the first single)
  10. !!!!!!!!!!! Might I humbly suggest you recount those decades, and redefine your statement (slightly)!!!!! tongue out icon
  11. About 25k...but then I can fit them all in my pocket!!!!! (Sort of) And I'm always covered...coz apart from adding speciality folders when needed.....I've got all I need for all occasions!
  12. Saw it on 'Strictly...'! Very Good. Couldn't help wandering what the type of music was...then I realised...it's a Mambo! Listen to Lou Bega and you'll hear what I mean. Oh, and before you all jump on me, I'm not saying that this is in ANY way related to 'Mambo No. 5', just the beat and type of music!!!! Alesha...
  13. Wouldn't even begin to try answering that! I've got lists of 'outstanding' bands....but all for different reasons. However........ If I had to choose the absolute 'best of the bestest': ............((( Thin Lizzy))).............. Or.......
  14. I would personally have read this as to include (big time) real R&B!!!! So: The Feelgoods One or two of the current Brit Guitar Bands Stones Chuck Berry J J Cale Muddy Waters Byrds Yardbirds Traffic Doobies Blind Faith etc.
  15. Doing a series of gigs for the Legion, I was told that the last track played was always to be the National Anthem!!!!! Seemed a bit strange, but what the hey....! I now realise that it is recognised as a FULLSTOP!!!!!!!! Apart from anything else....the sitters (well some of them) will stand!
  16. Alternatively.......use this: http://www.everyhit.com/index.html Just key in your preferred dates (DON'T sat Jan 70 - Dec 79, it's too long). Try a year at a time, only take an entry for No. 10 or higher, and just copy/paste to Word (or whatever). Voila! 1 list!
  17. Unless the rules have changed while I was asleep, Nik, not relevant - a private function with no paying guests!!
  18. I have two simple rules....you don't hang on the front of my stand (or lean on it)....and you don't come behind the stand! We are usually two anyway, so one of us is always eyes front!!!
  19. Agree 100% with jukeboxdj! I always take plenty of water with. If I want coke (or similar) then I'll take that too. Same applies for food, but then I always make sure I've eaten before I leave for the job. If the client offers you a drink or food, then that's just a bonus, and you accept (or not) as you see fit!
  20. Me, I'd go for a VERY large, VERY noisy EV setup!!!!!
  21. The administrators probably would.....but why would they worry. They'll make sure they get theirs! In reality, once a trading company has an adminstrator appointed, then the simple truth is that the end is nigh!!! I certainly wouldn't buy from a company in this situation.....again, the simple fact is that deliveries of paid for goods (by you and me) will be withheld, most certainly due to outstanding debts for unpaid goods/services in the recent past! I certainly don't see that Dolphin have done anything underhand, or even remotely naughty. BUT, you certainly will see Sound Cont
  22. Yeah...very nice, if you need something like that! Now.....why don't you tell us the price once you've added all the largest/fastest etc. bits to it! The aforementioned Capri would be cheaper!!!!!! tongue out icon
  23. All this is true.....but there were good times as well! Apart from anything else, I can clearly recall that I was actually RESPECTED for what I did.... not like nowadays where it seems to be more of an 'oh yeah.....whatever' kind of scenario. I can still remember the Davoli and/or Orange PA cabs we used.....Cast Iron frames!!!!!
